In our school, children have the opportunity to experience a "complete language immersion": one half of the day students spend studying the subjects of the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education of Ukraine, and the other half - with an English teacher who is a native speaker studying subjects of the certified Cambridge International Programme: English, Mathematics and Natural Science. Children freely communicate in English, Ukrainian and Russian. From the second grade the students are taught Spanish and Russian.
What assessments do pupils have - adequate to the child's knowledge or parents' purses?
We fairly evaluate the child's knowledge level, not the solvency or status of his parents. For all schools in Ukraine there are common assessment standards that our Ukrainian teachers adhere to. Teachers who speak English use the European system of criteria for assessing students' knowledge:
A - excellent (12,11),
B - very good (10.9),
C - good (8.7),
D - satisfactory (6.5),
E - satisfies the minimum criteria (4.3),
F - unsatisfactory (2,1).
We closely monitor the achievements of every child. His or her leveland performance is individually assessed, and is not compared to the success of other students in the class. This is a safe way to motivate and form good self-esteem in a child.
How do I enter your school?
The child is admitted to the first class after an interview with a qualified child psychologist who will assess his or her psychological readiness for the school. After thatan interview with the future teachers of the 1st class takes place: a Ukrainian teacher and an English native speaking teacher who in a friendly informal atmosphere will get acquainted with the child and give necessary recommendations to his or her parents.
Those children who go to the second grade or other grades, besides an interview with a psychologist, will take annual exams in mathematics, Ukrainian and English. To register for an interview, you must call the school by phone +380674021407, speak to an administrator and arrange an appointment. The administrator will also be able to answer most of your questions.
